Public transportation needs have been changing significantly over the past decade and you need solutions to offer your customers. From ever increasing requirements for ADA compliance, to increased competition in a world full of Ubers and Lyfts, the large buses are not always the best option for many counties and cities. Half empty buses are not an ideal choice for cost savings in any city, but especially in small towns and rural areas. If you are looking for a way to help your customers keep fares down, keep maintenance and fueling costs at a minimum, and still meet the need that exists for public transit, it’s time to look at options.
Keeping fares low and maintaining wide service coverage becomes difficult when we look at the inefficiencies of traditional buses in some areas of the country. Let NorCal Vans show you the cost savings you can realize from purchase to fuel efficiency and ongoing maintenance by changing all or part of your bus fleet over to Ford Transits. Adapted for wheelchairs and offering full ADA compliance, our fleet of smaller buses can help any community’s transportation needs and allow tax dollars to fund other important initiatives.
Our full-size vans offer economical alternatives to standard city buses and shuttles. Commuters value speed, comfort, safety, and cost among other things, all of which you can still get with our Ford Transit conversions. We offer a variety of floorplans and options to fit your transportation needs.
Public Safety/Law Enforcement
If you have specific needs for transporting prisoners using a smaller van rather than a large bus, let NorCal work with you to configure a floor plan that meets your needs. Having a smaller van in your transportation pool can allow you to efficiently transport several individuals at a time without having to utilize a large bus or multiple vehicles.

For many colleges and universities, helping students and staff make their way efficiently to and through the campus is a challenge. In addition, visitors and events put extra stress on campus transportation networks. No two campuses are alike, although they may share common features. Urban, suburban, and rural campuses; residential and commuter schools – all have different transportation needs.
While the actual transportation needs might vary, some needs both now and in the future for colleges and universities include:
- Finding ways to grow while reducing the need for parking and other infrastructure
- Managing travel and parkingto minimize impacts on public infrastructure and adjacent neighborhoods
- Providing access and mobility for all students and ensuring ADA compliance in transportation solutions.
- Encouraging a shift overall from cars to other modes by making public transit, bicycles, and walking more convenient
- Helping sustain the environment by developing infrastructure and strategies that reduce vehicle trips
Whatever the specific needs of your campus, NorCal Vans has a solution. Utilizing a fleet of smaller hybrid buses can help reduce costs, sustain the environment and offer the convenience you need, while still meeting the demands of students and faculty.
Schools need economical vehicles that are durable enough to handle transporting students from events and activities. Whether you are transporting students with special needs to or from school, or you need to drive your swim team to a meet across town, let NorCal Vans show you how a Ford Transit or Ford Transit Connect can meet your staff and student’s needs and delight your school board’s budget committee because of their lower operating costs, safety features, and ease of use
The Transit Connect is a smaller people mover, but don’t let its size fool you, it can easily adapt to suit a driver’s needs. Often companies have older, larger buses with wheelchair lifts that are difficult to drive and aren’t the most fuel efficient. The Transit Connect Adaptive Van is a new solution that adapts to suit your company’s needs. The Transit Connect comfortably seats 5 with cargo room in the rear allowing you to carry groceries, luggage, or any other supplies. When the need for transporting a wheelchair user arises, the rear floor folds out into a ramp to accommodate a wheelchair user. Once the wheelchair user is loaded, the ramp stows vertically. The Transit Connect makes a great addition to your current fleet. Use it to transport a wheelchair user, pick up supplies, or transport a smaller group of people when a larger vehicle isn’t needed.
The Ford Transit allows drivers to transport up to 14 passengers. NorCal Vans can create custom packages on the Transit including bus doors, wheelchair accessibility, storage options, and flexible seating.
Transporting your travelers from the parking lot to the terminal, or from one terminal to another requires efficient solutions that meet all the federal requirements, including ADA. In addition, you have specific configuration needs such as luggage racks. NorCal Vans has the solutions you are looking for.
NorCal Vans offers popular features such as the bus door, side entry options, perimeter seating, luggage racks, and storage bins.
Casinos have the opportunity to provide exceptional service and support to their clientele, including shuttling passengers to and from nearby airports and throughout the property.
Compared with previous Ford full-size vans, the all-new Transit offers higher fuel economy ratings for the cost-conscious fleet operators. Ford offers two efficient gasoline options, and a diesel option for longer routes or higher mileage applications. The Ford Transit is made in the USA, meaning it meets Buy America and can be purchased by transit agencies utilizing federal funds. With single or dual rear wheel chassis options, the Ford Transit provides a multitude of uses in a package that is more maneuverable than the standard cutaway bus.
The Ford Transit offers side or rear wheelchair lift accessibility. The mobility packages come equipped with non-slip commercial flooring, and an entry stepwell can be specified at the front co-pilot entry door position. Also available on the dual rear wheel platform are bus style bi-fold entry doors. Interior seats can be commercial grade fixed seats, fold-away seats to make space for wheelchair positions, or high-end luxury seats. All seats on the single rear wheel conversions must have three-point seat belts (lap and shoulder belts) due to the vehicles weight rating. The Transit is truly a fleet operator’s choice, especially if they need a vehicle with a flexible floorplan and high fuel economy.

If you own a hotel or resort, then you are in the business of helping transport your customers. The ADA describes accessibility requirements for hotel and other courtesy shuttles in great detail. The United States Department of Justice has created a detailed guide to assist businesses in complying with the ADA. Lesson 7 of the guide addresses transportation services offered as a convenience to customers.
Some businesses provide transportation for their customers as a convenience that supports their primary business. Examples include hotels that provide courtesy shuttle vans for guests going to or from an airport or other local destinations...Companies that provide services like these must offer transportation to people with disabilities.
Companies that provide transportation services on demand (such as a hotel that sends a van to an airport to pick up a customer when the customer calls the hotel) can acquire vehicles that are equipped with a lift or can contract with another company to provide accessible service for the customers who need it.
In short, if a hotel offers a shuttle service - it must be accessible, or (in limited/specific circumstances) the hotel must have a plan to meet the need.
More and more businesses are using the draw of transportation to woo their employees. They are providing state of the art executive style buses that are equipped with wi-fi and comforts for the commute. This approach eases the pain of the commute in metropolitan areas, cuts down the carbon footprint of the company, and makes the travel to and from work an opportunity for productive work to occur.
If your business is ready to provide transportation for your employees, NorCal Vans’ Ford Transit Executive Bus is the answer for you. The Executive Bus includes an upgraded interior including Altro wood flooring, reclining seats, lighting, and extra electronics. Additional customizations can be made to meet your needs.
Tour operators need to know they have a vehicle that is affordable, reliable, comfortable for their passengers, and always on the road generating income. With NorCal Vans’ Executive Transit you get the best of both worlds. We can customize your tourist van with the amenities your passengers expect as they travel to their destination including WIFI capabilities, an entertainment system and upgraded surround sound. You can also choose upgraded seating styles, a rear luggage barrier and storage for golf bags if desired. Additional amenities include dark wood floors, dome lights and individual reading lights, dark walls and dark wood grain commercial flooring.
For non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), NorCal Vans offers options including vans with gurney securement. Every vehicle we offer is built to meet or exceed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), allowing you to win important municipal contracts.
Whether you are a clinic, a care facility, or a municipality seeking to meet federal ADA requirements for NEMT, a solution for effectively transporting people who have physical or medical challenges is the key. Regular transportation options such as public transit or taxis, can be difficult for people who have medical devices to take with them or are in wheelchairs. Convenience and affordability are essential for your customers.
In California, non-emergency medical transport (NEMT) services are covered by Medi-Cal. Many hospitals, assisted-living facilities, and senior living homes provide NEMT services as well. When it comes to buying NEMT vehicles, look no further than NorCal Vans.
As an option for your non-emergency medical van, we have designed a custom storage rack for the gurney so that you can keep it out of the way when transporting other customers.
